Welcome to the SJU Hockey blog. One of the great privileges of my work as hockey coach at Saint John’s is the opportunity to coach and mentor fine young men in a sport that I am passionate about. Each day these young men show up at the rink, deeply dedicated to Johnnie hockey, working tirelessly at practice and in games to carry on the tradition of competitive excellence. The point of this blog is to tell you their stories and to keep you informed as alumni, family, and fans of our program throughout the year.

Alumni, family and fans have expressed a deep interest in knowing more about the progression of our season, hearing more of the stories and simply feeling more connected to the Johnnie hockey program. This hockey blog will give you a glimpse into our season, our players, our challenges and our opportunities. You will receive game updates from me each week. You will be introduced to our players and you will hear more about our aspirations for Johnnie hockey moving forward. Ultimately, our goal is to keep you updated on information throughout the season and to bring you into the inner circle of our team and program.

There will be four distinct areas to this blog:

Weekly updates on the team. These will come out on Wednesdays of each week. The post will include a recap of the previous weekend’s games and a look forward to our upcoming opponents.
Player profiles are shared at the bottom of the blog. The focus will be on how they got to SJU, their academic focus and their future professional goals. This will be used to help the current players connect to the SJU alumni and to bridge the gap between the players and the alumni that may be able to help them accomplish their goals.
The vision and future for the advancement of Johnnie Hockey. As a coach, I have some clear and defined goals for the future of Johnnie hockey. I will keep the Johnnie community updated on where I feel Johnnie hockey is headed the resources needed to get us there and how they will help build the program. I will also share information about fundraising events like the Johnnie Hockey Golf Outing, the J-Club mailing, and other ways to get involved.
The Johnnie alumnus spotlight. Once a month we will feature an update on a Johnnie Hockey alum. We will use this to showcase the success of Johnnies after hockey. Our goal is to share these profiles in the recruiting process to show that SJU not only provides a great college and hockey experience, but also serves as an avenue to professional success. Tap into our ever vibrant Johnnie network.
