I am here at Saint John's University to receive a college experience that will be worth telling for the rest of my life. After playing high school hockey at Apple Valley, I played three years of junior hockey on teams including the Coulee Region Chill (NAHL), Muskegon Lumberjacks and Tri-City Storm (USHL). I had hopes of fulfilling my dreams of playing division I hockey but little did I know I was caught up in glory that would come with it rather than looking at the big picture. After my last season of junior hockey I had a big decision to make as I contemplated between playing division I hockey across the Country or going to a high-end private division III school. As I turned 21 the summer before heading off to college I came to realization that there is more to life than just the game of hockey. I pictured myself post four years of college after graduating from a D1 school and a private D3 school. I came to the conclusion that playing the game I love while getting a top notch education was more important than anything else. Saint John's University is a community that I am now happy to call home.
As I have decided to major in Global Business Leadership and minor in Communications, I am excited to see what the further holds post graduation. I am interested in Global Business Leadership because it makes way for several opportunities in the world of business. Saint John's Business major doesn't simply focus on one particular field of business, but all fields. A minor in Communications will provide me the social skills that will apply to my everyday tasks. I was not influenced in this area particularly by one certain person as multiple alumni's, teammates, friends, and family members have informed me about the high quality of education regarding the business field. My favorite class thus far has been Digital Marketing as Professor Lindgren has made the class relatable towards potential business ventures for the future.
My future goals include getting a job in the field of business and raising a family with my future wife while still having an impact on the game of hockey. In my life after college I would like to help better people and run my own business. I plan on living in the state of hockey as long as I can because of the outdoor activities that I enjoy participating in regularly. As I am a Senior here at Saint John’s University I am open to a variety of different outcomes that my life could consist of. I am curious to see after 4 years of college how my sights positively change about the future me.
